Should you maintain continuity in flooring throughout main area of home?

Purchased home kitchen entrance is in view from front door, should I use the same tile in there as the balance of the main areas or can I do something else, say wood or wood tile?

I prefer wood floor (throughout). Maybe there's a way you can get the best of both worlds...?

Definitely carry the same material throughout to keep the space feeling continuos and as large as possible. This could be all wood or all tile. Who is using the space? Do you have pets? Where is your home located? These are questions you should answer so you can really give yourself the best product for the way you live. (examples: Tile is harder then wood so can affect someone with knee issues who will be standing allot. But wood can scratch with animal claws.) The wood look in tile may be your answer for a happy medium.

Hi, thanks for your input. The home is located in south Florida. Have two Yorkies, one who has several accidents so unfortunately wood is out. Wood tile is a thought but there is a lot of light coming into this home so thought a light color porcelain tile would keep the airiness going.
