Should I change the baseboards?

I definitely think it needs to be a rich dark color since the floor is so light and your couch color is neutral.

How about a nice taupe color?

wannisa, I like the nice wood floor. I also like the natural wood baseboards. :)

Depends what colors you like. If you are nervous about going too crazy with the paint color and want to keep it fairly neutral you could go with a dark gray and then get pops of color (maybe something bright like orange or yellow) from a rug, pillows, accessories, etc. As for your baseboards, they don't do much for your room as is. They don't look bad, but they blend too much into your floor to be noticeable in a good way. Since you are planning on painting the walls, it would be a pretty safe bet to paint them a white color--it'll look classy and go with everything.

Go with a green, white n purple for theme.. Grey-green for walls?? Or lemon-y?

What colours do you like?
How about wallpaper? What look do you want for room? Contemporary?

Get the rug first, then wall colour. Its easier this way than finding a coordinating rug later

You need a focal point: a great piece of art for the wall, maybe?

Also, ditch the verticals. Do you have a great view? If so, draw your colors from that. Some great window treatments will add style. And yes, I agree: paint the baseboards white.

Gold bold. It's just paint. This may be too dark, but something like this?

Add a table, mirrored sort? Or glass sort? If you do that your rug would be visible even with table on top.. Rug be the point where your room is themed around or art as suggested above..
Then in the end comes paint.. I wouldnt touch the window treatments until later if necessary

Just what I was thinking, anumaura .. Darzy has found a pic that shows a great match for the sofa and for the room dimensions and layout of wannisa's room. I like it. It's artsy, interesting and classy ... without looking like it would cost an arm and a leg to copy ! Clever find, Darzy !

I'd just add curtain panels, leaving the blinds as they are. They can always be pulled right back under the curtains if you want to see more glass .. or have a view to appreciate.

is this room light? what geographical directions of the windows? Are you going to decorate walls with art?
In general I prefer bold colors red and yellow but it's very personal. I have some examples of vibrant wall colors. take a look if you like the feel of it. http://alexeirebrov.com/blogs/news scroll down for orange and brown walls
