Kitchen remodel - backsplash question

April 8, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I am doing a small kitchen remodel and am going with white shaker cabinets, black pearl leathered tops. I don't want to buy new appliances so am sticking with the white appliances I already have. The paint color behind refrigerator and soffit above uppers is cobblestone path by BM (a blue grey). I was thinking about a 2x6 white matte subway tile but not sure.

Suggestions appreciated.
What about pulls for the cabinets and drawers?

Thanks!

Sounds nice... I would say white and grey marble subway tile, or I like your thought. Simple clean handles, maybe a flat black finish.

Posting pics of your choices would help. That said, subway tile is a classic, and you could always try it in a herringbone pattern to make it a little more interesting. Here are some of my favorite backsplashes that might fit your kitchen either in style or material:

Thanks all. The reason I am hesitating is wondering if it's going to seem too white/stark with the white appliances.

Thanks for posting some links too

For your cabinet and drawers hardware, satin nickel or brushed stainless steel would look nice (among other pretty choices! :)

Why not spice it up a bit with tempered glass for a backsplash. Any design is possible from sepia tone to a strong splash of color. The glass is easy to install, easy to clean and provides a great depth and reflective quality.

I think your choices sound lovely. I wouldn't worry about the white appliances. If at some later point you feel you want more contrast you can eventually replace them with stainless steel, but I agree that the counters will provide enough contrast in the design as planned.
