I would like to eliminate bathtub in master bath and use space to make a spa like shower. Will this be a problem with resale

Good day, most master baths are a 4 piece; wc, sink, tub and shower. Is there a second tub elsewhere in your home? Families always want a tub for the kids. Good luck

Agree with Oellien, you need to have at least one tub for resale. If there is another tub, I would definitely replace the master tub with a larger shower.

This is a raging debate on Houzz - search through the dilemma discussions "bath or tub" to see the various positions and views of realtors and homeowners. Best of luck

I am selling my house next year so this fall I plan on doing total Renos on all of my bathrooms! My en suite also has a large corner Jacuzzi tub that I never use. We plan on taking that out and replacing it with a large glass enclosed spa shower. the other bathroom will have the tub and shower replaced! I agree with the others, For resale you need at least one bathtub in a house for people that has small kids etc.

With two other bathrooms that have bathtubs you should be fine to to use the tub space as a spa like shower. Up dating your masterbath will add to your resale value.

Yes Dorothy you are good to go!! I'm doing the same thing and looking forward to removing that giant waste of space and putting in a beautiful glass shower!

sounds okay to eliminate the bathtub in the master.

Most likely not. A big shower is a good selling feature.

Hi Dorothy - if you have two further tubs then I can't see this being a downside at all ! Enjoy your new shower room !!!
