Basement wall colour

pameladiane22April 15, 2013
Hi!
We are trying to choose a paint colour for our basement and are having trouble..... Really do not like the colour it is now. Brown carpets, white trim, French doors will be white, white fireplace, eventually a white tv unit. Want something fresh, warm but not too dark.

I would pick a color from one of the toys in the room. It will be fun and kid friendly. It looks like you have a sample paint on the wall now. If that is a paint sample I like it.

The kids have a toy room off to the left which is lime green/yellow.... Tying to make the tv area a bit more adult

pameladiane22, I meant no disrespect I really think a fun bright color will look good. Bright colors don't have to be for children only. Here is a pic of a condo I did for an artist that asked for a primary color scheme.

Sage green or a pale duck blue both colours of nature that would work with your brown carpet

None taken! We were originally tying to find a nice bright orange..... But can't seem to find the right tone....don't want anything peachy....rather something fresh tangerine-ish. Seen as we couldn't find that I was thinking of going safer with a blue/Gray

Tangerine sounds like a lot more fun. BM has some nice ones that aren't peachy or to orange either.

Blue/Gray (as in futon frabic) would be calm and relaxing...'Safe' as you said. A nice warm/dirty yellow...as on wall in photo of Barley Art. Or maybe the planter color...calm/cool. Get your children involved...see what they choose...maybe do two or three colors, or add a chair rail around the room and paint lower portion one color and upper another. Have fun with it...after all it is the FAMILY ROOM!

Another idea...this is my leather love seat with the Ripe Wheat walls...very warm and rich colors together, and would go great with the brown carpet and white cabinetry you have to work with. Also, looks like you have a dark brown or black couch?...will work beautifully with any of the colors I've suggested. If you feel really brave/bold go for the RED as also suggested, it would be vibrant and full of life!
