Are the columns split in half or do they go all the way through?
April 17, 2013 in Photo Questions
Were the windows built around existing columns? Is the column detail on the outside as well? If they are half columns, were they ordered that way or were they cut by a carpenter? I have a very similar porch and plans for a sunroom, having trouble deciding on windows and I want to use my existing columns like this but the builder is saying I can't.
Thank you for reporting this. Undo

These columns were not existing, however they are in fact whole columns, half is shown on the inside and half on the exterior. The screens were able to be attached to the columns. Depending on the quality of your existing columns, your contractor may or may not be able to do this. The existing column has to be strong enough to support the screens.
