Need Foyer Help. Renovating and don't know what to do
April 21, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We decided to renovate our dark foyer and replace the stairs. We are adding new wood floors as well. The architect called for a cased opening by the stairs creating a little nook area I guess.(the door you see in the nook is to the powder room) Now I'm questioning that decision. Will this make the foyer look smaller? How will I furnish the foyer now. I wanted to place a bench by the stairs but I don't think the space provided is big enough. We will have panels on the walls. To the left of the foyer is the dining room. The opening is too large now and will be made several inches smaller. Any advice will be appreciated, I am losing sleep over this.
