Why not have a custom round - to the floor - cloth made from outdoor fabric. Then have a shorter contrasting topper version made for when you need to use the table and people need to get chairs under it. You can pick up on the colors to do drapery panels that tie back at the posts of your pergola to create a "room." Don't forget to upholster some chairs to go with the whole vignette. If your table is wood, you might first paint it with boat paint and seal it with poly, to protect from weather.

You might use folding canvas chairs (less expensive) to keep the feeling light and airy. Or woven rattan like in this pic.

cut the kitchen table legs low, and add tons of floor cushions - make it feel more Oriental!
