Our new kitchen/great room will have one "small" window facing east and a bank of windows on the north side and therefore not a lot of sun. My husband and I would like wood cabinets but also originally wanted wood floors. Since radiant floor heating is being put in, porcelain wood tile seemed to be logical choice. To keep the room "light" I figured I would need to put in a light colored floor but have soo far disliked the porcelain wood tile color options (I prefer the darker, more "rustic" looking colors). I then thought then white cabinets but although you see them all over the design magazines I would prefer the look of natural wood. I could aways paint them later. Soo for light and open feeling go with light-ish floors and darker cabinets? or pick what I want and flood the area with pocket lights?
