Want to utilize steep ravine in back yard
April 22, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We just purchased a lot that which includes a wooded ravine as part of the back yard. Haven't measured it yet but it's probably about 60 feet side at the top, 35 feet deep, with a 60 degree slope (you can climb it but you probably need to use your hands to do so). Since it takes up about half the back yard portion of the property we'd like to be able to do something to utilize it more (steps down to the bottom? terraces? cantilever deck?) since the flat portion of the back yard isn't all that big. We'll most definitely need a landscape architect so this is an open invitation to landscape architects in the Seattle area that have some experience with ravines. We'll also be redoing the rest of the back yard (deck or patio, fire pit).
