Starting with a hole
April 24, 2013
Lost our home last year to a wildfire. Had to discard everything except the hole for the foundation. Don't want to build the same house, yet we're stymied by trying to fit our room ideas into the dimensions dictated by the hole. Any suggestions on how to start?

The best place to start is with an architect. You can find one near you by hitting the " find local pros" tab on the header and following the prompts. Don't be afraid to change the footprint! You'll need a backhoe out there for underground utilities anyway, so a small change will be no big deal!

Are you limited to the current footprint by regulations related to the rebuild project?
