How noisey is the pump? Did you soundproof the cabinet?

The sump pump only goes off as often as you have water in it. Some pumps may go off a couple times a day, some might go off once a week. We didn't insulate the cabinet since it didn't eject water very often, but you definitely could. The bookcase door will block some sound already, but you could seal it with weather stripping to add more sound proofing. Let us know if you need anything else.

Thank you. We''re just planning to have a sump pump installed.

The sump pump installation was a "hot mess" in our finished tv room. I was worried about the noise from the sump pump. But after everything was cleaned up, we had a small wood cabinet built to conceal the pump and back up battery. We did not put any sound proofing in the cabinet. I am really pleased with the sound- hardly noticeable. The cabinet is in the corner and about 20" high. Our sub woofer sets on top. In the end, I worried needlessly.
