Exterior Help!

I have purchased the biggest money pit EVER! The whole interior is gutted down to studs and dirt floor, that's a whole other story. All of the windows are being resized due to a law and replaced. Do you have any ideas for the exterior. I'm at a total loss.

Michelle -- Perhaps Prince Charming in a horse-drawn carriage at your door? I'm so sorry for all of the headaches, but this is so incredibly adorable. I have to think it will be worth all of your trouble at the end. Is it greater LA?

What's going on with the slate roof over the triple window? Is the surface stucco or stone? I honestly wouldn't change much -- just bring some life back to the forgotten landscape. Maybe some wooden shutters. And some climbing roses. And live happily ever after.

That is the cutest place. I don't know what kind of space you have under the roof and if you're allowed to change things, but I could see a couple of cute dormer windows there.
And the front door in a very soft greyish green.
And of course, as Barnhart G. suggested: roses. And wisteria. Around the front door and between the windows.
Hedge trimmed a little lower, flowers flanking the path up to the front door....

Michelle, this is going to totally be worth the work! What a great house. Has so much character. Rosemary, lavender and some pea gravel.

I agree w everyone ( how often do we get to say that?!) Rent Mr. Blandings Dream House for the end of a hard day; you'll feel more hopeful and enjoy the final landscaping. Congratulations.

I absolutely love it!

How about camouflage netting when the meddlesome code compliance inspector is in the vicinity?

Hey Michele, just gotta say "cool cottage" your place is dripping with charm (in a good way) keep it simple, good bones.....enjoy! BTW "yes" windows need to meet "egress" for building & fire codes!

Lovely house! What area of the country are you in? Is there a lot of rain and snow? You may have to readjust your gutter settings, spacings.

Its not to bad, kind of reminds me of something from an old Disney cartoon/movie...I would just pressure clean, paint, replace any rotted wood and landscape using some color if I was you.

I like the round turret, entry. That looks like a 'dovecote' on top of it. (A small bird house!)
