Pot Lights - very little clearance for housing

HELP! Our electrician just informed us that our builder did not leave enough clearance for potlights in our tray ceiling. The ceiling was supposed to go up an additional foot and now we are told it can only go up 6” if we still want pot-lights centered in the grids. Are there any good pot lights that have more of a shallow housing?????
