Quartzite stone for counters in a light color. If you have light quartzite do you get etching and staining?

I am considering Dolce Vita Quartzite for my kitchen island. I did a test on a sample piece and blueberries and citrus etched the finish. I am wanting this stone in place of marble but if it is just as delicate for stains and etching then I might as well use marble that is cheaper.

No quartzite is not the same thing as quartz. Quartzite is a great product, but like any stone it will require maintenance. We have heard examples of people who have etching issues but most do not. If you take care of your stone you should not have any issues. It is normally less porous then granite but better then marble. Watch this video for some more info.
