Have cornered my table. Going to go with suggestion for bronze chandelier...floor covering. Don't really want to do the busy hickory pecan can I go dark without making this room appear too small

Yes, dark will work if you pick out a color from your countertop for the stain to match. I would also suggest changing the wall and trim color to a warmer tone.
