Exterior paint design colors to create a multi-cultural feel

The inside of my house uses paint and other decor colors of mustard-gold, deep-reds, yellow-browns, orange, olive, turquoise, etc. So now I want the exterior to match. It would be great if I had a stucco exterior on my house with a terra cotta tile roof, but instead I have Americana style siding and a black shingle roof. I had wanted to paint my siding mustard-gold and the trim and shutters a dark brown (so there would be no white left) but my painter is discouraging this. I really need ideas because the siding is blocking my idea flow. I will eventually also replace the shrubs in the front too, but the paint has to come first. My house is the lighter grey with red door (not the partial brick one). Thanks for any ideas!!

Couldn't you live with a cream or taupe for the siding and add whatever color you want for the front door? I can see how your choice of colors may be discouraged, particularly because your house is so close to the neighbors.

Rockin, yes, that is what I meant, and then you could use what ever color you liked for the door.

It would be a lot easier to paint this house if you took the shrubs out first. Having a clean slate to start makes things easier to envision.

Or at least take out the "tree" by the front entry and cut down or remove the shrub in front of the window on the left side of the house.

I'm definitely taking note of what you all are saying and I totally agree about the shrubs - plus I really dislike "ball top" style shrubs. I prefer "flowy" type plants - palms, grasses, bamboo, ferns, etc.
