Houzz has inspired me! I was tired of my 70s hall! Retreated doors, jams and baseboard in espresso stain, painted in a darker color, removed sconce lights and put in can lights! I'm couldn't be more pleased.

Nice. Good for you to go darker! Would try something lighter on the end wall perhaps? To create more of a focal point there?

I would put aggregate every where but he said no, lol. Everywhere but game room, living room and bed rooms

Just paint that end wall off white, it will make your dark accessories pop.
