Which direction are your windows facing in each room?

The windows in the living room are in the front of the house, or to the north and the windows in the dining room are in the back of the hose, or south.

martinezm, I would suggest several tasks for you. For the North-facing L.R., you will need to choose something with a warm base. If you go to one of your favorite manufacturers, they will show you what is considered a warm color. I won't even speak in terms of undertones because many people cannot discern the difference in the color bases. Also, whatever hue you like, I would recommend going anywhere between two to three shades lighter. What appears quite light on the chip will read much darker in the l.r. once it is on the walls. If you want to post your initial selections here, then we can all look at them and give more guidance before you buy your paint for sampling. I am recommending you deal with the l.r. first as that will be the biggest challenge because of the Northern exposure. Also, where in the U.S. you are located is important, as the quality of light for each exposure changes from one area to another.

Once you have determined your color family and having tested your sample(s) on the walls, then you will be ready to work on a good coordinating color for the dining room.
