What do do with a linear pattern on a marble/granite in L-corner of kitchen

steermanMay 5, 2013
Hello All! We are remodeling a very modern home with a large L-shaped kitchen (with an Island). We love the look of the white macabus due to it's linear lines. I'm wondering how to tackle the corner of the countertops where two slabs meet. Does one try to line up the striations? Or should we stay away from something so linear and horizontal with an L-shaped kitchen? Calcutta Gold Supreme is a second runner up.

I have come across two solutions for this - either cut diagonally into the corner - no guarantee anything will match up - but it looks professional - or the other solution I have seen is to add a wooden butchers block in the corner area so both runs butt up to the wood chopping block not each other !

I would put the white macabus on the island and select something less linear in nature for the perimeter L-shape area. We have tried turning a corner by using an angled corner cabinet to soften the turn. We had the corner piece done separately (meaning there was a seam on either side of the corner about 6" out) and transitioned the pattern around the corner as best we could. The granite had a flow to it, but not as clearly defined as the white macabus.
