Front entrance

Trying to work out how to weather proof the front entrance and possibly add a front fence etc, any ideas would b appreciated.

Extending the roof a feet or two would look best.

dzaupa, I have a thought: why not consider a metal and glass canopy between the top of the door and clerestory windows? It would 'float' over the door, and provide nice cover directly above where you need it, and would allow the natural light to filter through. You could even place a surface mtd fixture along the front of it, or a low profile below the underside under the middle glass panel, suspended between the structural frame on both sides. I am close to sending a sketch.

Could you put a deck like structure right under the second floor windows just extended enough to shelter below?
