How can I remove/ prevent scratches on my engineered wood floor. And how can I keep it looking good and well nourished

Do you have pets? Wear shoes indoors? Small kids?
Preventing is a matter of being careful.

Is it varnished or oiled? Is it softwood or hardwood?
Remove scratches by sanding and refinishing.

Wooden floors can also look good when they're old and worn.

No pets. But we do wear shoes. It is a hardwood floor, stained.

Hardwood does scratch less than softwood but it will eventually wear. Try to avoid scratching as much as possible and add a (few) layer(s) of clear coat if the stain has a color, so the scratching first go into the clear topcoat, before decoloring the floor. There are special polishes that conceal little scratches for a while, but refinishing (painting) it might be necessary after a certain amount of years, especially gloss. Black stripes from shoes come off with an ordinary pencil eraser.

Be sure to use rugs to trap dirt at the entry as grit carried in on shoes is a major source of floor scratches
