Can I put hardwood over a crawl space?!
May 10, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We're rebuilding our lake home from scratch. It will have a 4' crawl space, fully cemented with a sump pump. The land is flat with a slightly-high water table because of the lake. I really would like to put hardwood throughout the 1st floor, but everything I've been reading says I should use engineered wood over a crawl space. I'm trying to figure out if that is just for dirt crawl spaces, or any crawl space?
If anyone has experience with this please help. thanks

HERE Design and Architecture
Our house is 60 years old and has hardwood over an unfinished crawl space - no problem.

Just be careful that you incorporate appropriate drainage and ventilation.
