My husband might have killed my rosemary topiary - help ??
May 13, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Hi - I purchased 2 rosemary topiaries - in fabulous healthy and round w strong stocks well in our travels back from ATL to Tampa they where in our car, and now they r saggy crips and brown. There is some green healthy stocks still remaining but 80% looks dead - what can we do?!?! Or I do to keep them from dying completely

I've never had any luck keeping rosemary alive in pots indoors ... but it thrives outside. I even covered it with a plastic bag over the winter, and it looks great already this spring. Apparently it likes neglect and abuse -- go figure.

Ditto Brenda. I'm wondering if it's rootbound or overwatered.

We planted it outside because it's remarkably drought tolerant. It's grown huge and has to be whacked back every now and then. Other than periodic haircuts, it gets zero care.

Same here over the pond in europe. Treat it mean, keep it keen!

At this point, you might as well lop off the leafy part and see if it resprouts new growth. Give it lots of sun outside and let it get real rain, too. My husband just whacked our crepe myrtle tree and our maple back drastically but they're both sending out new growth. Make sure they have good drainage and don't sit in water when it rains. Let us hear of the results.
