As much as I agree with ASV, you could also go for colour:

This could be a good one too. I like the round shapes, from what I can see you have quite a lot of square shapes in your room, except for the funky poof, so you could add a bit of swirl:

Here's a great option from overstock.com...8x10 runs you about $250. It will brighten up you space and give it style. I just did this room...client loved it!

Would you like to add some colour? Or do you really love your neutral palette with the beige, brown, black, white that you have now. There's nothing wrong with that you know. As long as you mix structures and materials, as you're doing now with the leather/wool, wood/chrome... so it doesn't become boring and cold.

But if you'd like to add colour, you can add about any colour you like actually. I forgot to look, but have you started an ideabook for your room here on Houzz? If you do that and browse the photos of rooms here, you can add the ones that you like to your ideabook. Be a bit intuitive about it, don't think 'but it doesn't go with this or this that I already have', just save it to your ideabook if you really like the look of a room.

If you then browse through your ideabook and start thinking about why you like a particular room, you'll get an idea of what kind of look/atmosphere you'd like to have in your own room.

Have fun!

colours like red, hot pink and blue combined with a dull base, will certainly bring everything together..

I'm going to be the odd one out, but I think your floor is so beautiful it shouldn't be covered up with a rug! I think you could create the more cozy elements elsewhere if desired.

no, i think u must introduce a rug, something not wall to wall , but something to bind up your living room altogether, and show connections. =)

First of all the floor is so beautiful why do want a carpet at all? Anyways, as far as your question is concerned, I would say since everything in the room is either in black or in brown shade and the entire room seems to be dark I would suggest you to go for some light colored carpet such that some brightness comes to the room. Hope you like it.
