Using salvaged cabinets
May 20, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We are trying to do our kitchen at the cabin on a shoestring. We have repaired the roof put in sky lights and taken down the nonfunctional chimney that was in the middle of the kitchen. The job now is to reconfigure the windows and figure out how to install the maple cabinets we bought from Craigs list. I know we won't have the precious cabinets so planned to augment with Ikea cabinets. I've been looking for a Web Site that would give basic info related in planning the layout. The cabin is mostly log but has been added onto so there is only one log wall in the kitchen making the instalation not too bad I hope. I think a blind corner will help us utilize as many cabinets as possible. I was hoping for a nice big window over the sink but would have to forfeit upper cabinets, which was the reason to do the reno in the first place. Is light more important or storage? The cabin tends to be dark inside because of the deep over hang. These are the questions for now. I have lots more but need to figure out the best layout. Thanks for reading
