Need Advice for Selecting a High Efficiency Elongated Toilet
May 23, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I am in the planning stages of redoing my 1979 powder room. I want to replace the water guzzling toilet to a high efficiency elongated one. I am amazed and overwhelmed by the number of different kinds of toilets and their prices. I don't always believe that price is an indication of the quality. I want a toilet that is easy to clean and can take care of business (nothing worse than an ineffective toilet when company comes to dinner!). My house is modern/contemporary. There are wood and tile walls in the bathroom. Can anyone suggest a high efficiency elongated toilet that can take care of the bathroom business?

We had the same concerns when redoing our powder room and ended with an American Standard 1.6 (flow) with elongated seat and what I believe is called comfort height and, despite our initial skepticism, are very happy with it. BTW the flush is awesome and the price was very reasonable. I think we got it at Lowes.

After years of having toilets that required keeping a plunger at hand at all times, we finally got a Kohler Persuade which does the job and is supremely easy to clean as well. I have never understood why toilets have all of that awful sculpture underneath that is so hard to clean!
