First impressions: Is your house built on a slab? Is the front door overhang an add on, not part of the original build?

It looks like a split level trying to masquerade as a Colonial. Try this:

I would consider a more substantial front porch. your current one looks like it is temporarily being propped up

I think it is a beautiful colonial - lots of overhangs don't have large posts - and so the entry area looks a bit top heavy. Here, that impression is exacerbated because your posts are dark, but your trim boards are creamy white.
So, my first suggestion before paint colors is to consider beefing up the porch posts so the scale of the post appears to be at least as wide / square as the bottom trim board on the gable over your front door. A bit larger would be even better - a fairly easy diy step.

I would keep the light trim and go for a slate gray body color, then pick out something classic for your front door. Test http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6233-samovar-silver/ a classic light gray that will bring a lot of light. With this, you will want a whiter white trim, something that will more closely match your garage door. And, I like a blue-gray entry - something like http://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW7624-slate-tile/

All the other colors I pulled are variations on this theme - test sw colors for the body - steely gray, jubilee (a bit more blue), morning fog (with a gilbraltar door). This would also be beautiful with a dark red / wine colored door like rookwood red or arresting auburn for a little nod back to the brick footing and a bit of spice.

thanks! I am thinking a dark gray with white trim, and either wood stain front door or a red...just hard picking the exact right colors. The plan is to enlarge the pilars. I do not know if it was added.

Your home is lovely but I am guessing you don't like green. Soft Grey Taupe would be a modern choice - not a blue grey but a brown grey. Keep the trim but warm it up with a slight off white shade like Benjamin Moore CC50. I also feel your front posts need to be beefed up and painted the same colour ass the trim - minor change would really improve the visual impact.

The platinum grays are pretty - test sw dovetail if you like them too.

Not a fan of blue houses...if you go blue you'll be the landmark for the neighborhood . Sounds like you like grey..go for it.

Lovely home Sasha, have you ever thought of painting the shutters darker though for more contrast?

I actually like the green, but I agree with the others, that you need more of a front step/porch and also put in some columns.
