Jarrah is a hard wood native to Western Australia and if bought new will have come from an old growth forest. Recycled Jarrah is therefore the only choice for the environmentally conscious builder. Jarrah is an incredibly durable wood (class 2) so capable of sustaining harsh weather for prolonged periods. I am just clarifying now what the bench top was sealed with. It is also termite resistant and OK to use in bush fire prone areas. All of these properties make it ideal for door and window frames in particular as in this house as well as outdoor furniture.
