What FUN color walls/wallpaper & area rug would you recommend? My taste is electic. This chair would be used by the computer in a spare room I am TOTALLY redoing! My brain is fried from too many ideas. Need some direction!
Lisa Smith Cool chair! 1st: how important do you want this chair to be? Major - you want to really see it or Blendy - just coordinate with rest of room.
What is the lighting (windows and directions they face)? What about flooring?
cheers2chacha Great questions. The room is about to get a complete overhaul..i mean complete. But I will post a pic "as is". Yikes. Please remember everything in this room is going! Furniture, duvet etc etc. This has become my "garage sale" room so I am dumping everything in here. So embaressing, but whatever.
The floors are a lighter hardwood. This room is a 5th room in the house and the owners before us opened up the closet to make it a desk/ computer area. The only place I can honestly fit this chair is at this (closet)computer desk! This room will act as a spare room for guests (hence the huge queen size bed ugh),a computer room & where I fold laundry! ha..The room is tight 10ft6in x 11ft.
I am open to any ideas. I love all of the mirrored dressers/side tables out right now..along with the trellis, chevron, zig zag prints. I am open to wallpaper and funky/fun paint colors. Orr white clean walls with pops of art. Ughhh ..so many fun ideas! I love anthropology electic with a clean look. I scored this really cool vintage bamboo chandelier at a consignment shop. This will replace the fan. The last pic I will post was my "inspiration" look, if that helps. THANKSSSSSS!!
Lisa Smith Excellent chandelier! I'd say your chair might be your color key. If you keep the desk in the closet you'll see it - but not so much when it is pushed in.
Notice how your inspiration pic has the art as the color key - all the colors are found in this artwork which is how they make sense.
For you, you could stick with the greens as the main color & pop in the berry here and there (very limited so as not to get cartoony). White linens, with or w/out green trim - less is more especially if you like graphic. You may find some graphic green and white wallpaper like you love but in a small room - do all the walls, not just one - looks like you cheaped out. Or, you are on the right page, go all white and 1 or 2 cool pieces of art (use your greens from the chair) on the wall opposing the desk. If you do this paint the light fixture green.
Desk fix - one can glue laminate to almost any flat surface. This would be easier and crisper than trying to paint out the dark brown. One sheet (4 x 8 or 10) should cover desk, edge and wall behind. This will give an instant face lift to the area.
cheers2chacha Thank you so much. I REALLY aprreciate your help. If you dont mind, one more opinion from you.. I just found the same fabric as the chair cushion on etsy..too much to have matching window panels? I can always just do pillows but..I was thinking of doing the window panels..then the white walls , white linens and a few punchy pillows.

tkinver Hi
I think this room could look amazing with a little work and some changes but not too costly. Keep your palette white with walls and linen and take of the bamboo blind and have a white roman blind made bordered with the green from the chair. Paint the shelves in desk area and put a mirror concertina door on to close this area not in use. Display chair for a focal point in the room and use it when you need to use desk area. Keep linen clean white and pure with some cushions picking up chairs colours and perhaps a contrast of a mustard yellow woven pillow or stripe. The lamp should be sleeker and move bed away from the wall a little . Remove heavy unit next to bed and replace with smalled sleeker iron painted table. Pictures on wall to be more uniform in frames and picture style. Hope some of these help. Ikea has some great things for smalled rooms and they work well and are simple in effect. Enjoy this project I can see it as a beautiful workable room once finished
tkinver Hi I just saw you have managed to get some fabric you could use this in a pillow/s or use it to border a roman blind to pick up the chairs fabric. The chair is beautiful and great colour . The decor girl sugest laminating the shelves instead of painting this is also a great idea and sometimes just putting on a different finish works well.
Lisa Smith Panels would be very nice - then the white. You got it!!! Careful with too many punchy pillows - they end up on the floor. It's not like you've got extra room for a sofa to sit them on. Less is always more! Good luck!
Bradford's Rug Gallery Great fabric! I would take that extra fabric and make an upholstered back to match the seat for the chair. I included some area rug pictures: The two first and third are by Thomas Paul for Chandra and the second and last are from the Soho Collection at Safavieh.

cheers2chacha I really the first one..huge Thomas Paul fan.I wonder if it will be too "green" in the room.Thank you for the help. I appreciate it!
I had seen this totally affordable rugs on Overstock. I have 3 dogs & 2 kids..and lots of fun parties so any rug needs to be durable to say the least!
cheers2chacha I also found these from West Elm..
The room is 11x 11..what size rug do I get? I kind of want to get it oversized so it fits under the bed as well!
I APPRECIATE ANY FEEDBACK! This is fun!
I posted a pic of the chair again..
mainegirl5 I like these rugs. Let the chair speak, ie if it's the only color in the room then it will keep its special place, otherwise it'll fade in importance. I like the busy graphics of the rugs, but keep them neutral:)
Bradford's Rug Gallery the first images you posted are safavieh's indoor outdoor collection called courtyard. It is our go to indoor outdoor line at the gallery, however keep in mind they are polypropylene, very flat and rough. Also, the green color they offer is more of a sage green and may be too muted for the chair fabric. The next pic is from Safavieh's Dhurrie Collection and the color of this piece is more lime green while your fabric appears to be an olive. I recommend visiting your local rug store with fabric in hand if your thinking of doing a green. On the other hand, who doesn't love a nice black and white chevron? Flatweaves like the ones posted from West Elm(and by Thomas Paul) are very cleanable since they do not have a backing and can be washed with soap and water(just make sure they soap gets rinsed and allowed to dry). For size, if the bed is to stay of to the size of the room, a 5x8 should do it, map it out with an old bed sheet or painters tape.
