edwardian frontage ideas

We are considering how to best decorate the front of our newly purchased Edwardian house (in Nottingham, UK) and would appreciate opinions! Firstly whether to paint or just clean the stone lintels and cills around the windows. Secondly what to do with sign above the door which reads stafford house 1907 - should we paint or clean it or perhaps just paint inside the engraved letters for definition? Lastly which colour to paint the decorative wood fascia board that is currently dark green! Thanks!

It would help if you could post another picture with a much great view of the front. I was thinking of something like this.

Power wash the stone work carefully BUT NOT the name stone - as the power washer will simply sand it all off and flatten it so you will loose that bit of history!! Just use a soft ish brush and fairy liquid/ water solution ...
I don't think it will need paint after its been power washed !

Congratulations on your new home ! Exciting times ahead !!! Am adding a free room planner - might be useful !! http://thebrick.icovia.com
Kind regards,

I am guessing that your windows are replacements and vinyl and will not be painted. Anything on the house that is wood, paint white. Clean and polish the plaque. Paint the beigey cement around the white windows the color of the sills of the upper windows.

Thanks karen, having plants there is a great idea!
JudyG -the windows are the original timber which we've had restored and double glazed and primed. We will gloss them a bright white I think and tempted to do the fascia white also now. Still deliberating on painting the cills!
