I have peg and groove floors with area rugs in my small house (living room, dining room, hallway and 2nd bedroom) and only two rooms with carpet that needs to be replaced.I don't want to do more peg and groove (too much!). Can i do a matching colored wood floor that is not peg and groove?

absolutely!

some people are in the opposite boat and want to add a single room of peg and groove, usually to a den or dining room to define it a bit more.

good luck

Yes you can and just stain the same color. That way it won't be do noticeable. Most people would have to take a second look to really notice.
