Fireplace help
June 19, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Trying to do an inexpensive update to this fireplace. The house is for sale and just want to "brighten" it up. Any ideas on different accessories would also be appreciated.

You might consider hiring a home stager if the house if for sale. But the first thing they will tell you is declutter. Take everything off the hearth, and remove most of what's on the mantel. Remove the little things on the wall behind the couch and replace with one large piece, a framed print or mirror, and hang it lower so the bottom is 5 or 6 inches above the couch. Open the sheers to the right of the fireplace so they look like actual drapes.

I'm sure a stager will have more and better advice, but this would be a start.

Perhaps painting the mental white to match the window trims.
