Master Bathroom Vanity
aimeep81June 20, 2013
I want to add a new vanity to my new master bath but I'm worried about to many materials clashing. The counter top is beautiful (it is the same marble around the bathtub and trim on the shower) but the contractor is worried that trying to take off the top will crack it, and said I should just buy a new cabinet and top.

If I have the tile in the shower, the marble around the bathtub and a new material on the counter is that to much?

This is a confusing question- do you want to take out this vanity shown and replace it or add an additional vanity ? Then are you trying to re-use the countertop ? If it is replacing this vanity I would ask why ? It looks nice to me. That said you can take off countertops and backsplashes, but it is not easy and sometimes you damage the cabinet below for sake of the countertop along with the mirror behind and possibly drywall. It is not an easy task to do but we have done it before.. I would say based on the contractors answer that he does not want to be involved in this process and can't say I blame him. That said it can be done. But to answer your other question yes you could bring in another material, but it would have to be fairly neutral, maybe a simple grey or white quartz.

I agree the current vanity looks beautiful. If you don't like the style or color, changing the doors and drawers shouldn't be that hard. If you do decide to replace it, I think a light grey marble should work just fine.

I don't like the style of the vanity or the color but I like the idea of a light grey marble top. Thank you.

thanks grewa002, me too. I just hate the cabinet. I was quoted an outrages number to paint it so it looks like both have to go. Cheaper to buy all new then repaint.
