Whither the wetbar?
marshall_streetJune 21, 2013
We're finalizing floor plans for a new home. One of the few remaining questions is where to place the (walk-out) basement wet bar. I'm having a hard time envisioning an advantage to either location, so I figured I'd bring it up with all you experts! What do you think--Option A or Option B?
Option A--off of living area
Option B--tucked next to stairs

No question...option B. It's hard to see the dimensions, but tucking it out of the way will direct people to a different location when entertaining, and give you a lot more flexibility with furniture layout, or game tables/pool table, etc in the rec area.

What do you plan on using your rec room for? Is it more for hosting social events and guest parties, or for family time? It seems to me that Option B might be the better place for the wetbar if you want to keep the rest of the recreation room open for furniture and such. What else might you be thinking of placing in the Option B area instead? Would it just be dead space if the bar isn't placed there? There are a lot of questions to think about.

Agreed, option B looks more integrated in the room.
