Help with garage and wood/trim portion of brick house

June 21, 2013 in Design Dilemma
Here is a photo of one section of the back of our 20 year old home as it looks today. Obviously, a new paint scheme is needed. The second image is that same section repainted using Sherwin Williams Color Visualizer. The body color name is "shingle" and the shutters/garage color is "grizzle. Both are grays. The trim/gutters will be repainted an off white much the same as before. One side note. The overall house is 85% brick and 15% siding. The siding is restricted to the upper rear and a portion of the upper left side.

What is your opinion of the new vitural color scheme? I welcome all comments and suggestions.

Yeah, I like it. Quite a modern look.

Mega Builders, Do you have a suggestion regarding how we could improve the look of the rather "plain Jane" wall? Thanks in advance.

Carolins, there is an oval house number plague directly above the garage. It is easily readable from the street.

Hmm... I did like how they have sort of the same roof line. But there are lots and lots of other outdoor lights to choose from, so... if you like the idea, have fun searching for something that is more your style :-)

I know, that's how I know your number :-) But it does break up the 'plain Jane' wall.

Something like this might add a little something to your garage door.

leahetalyor, for some reason the address only goes to the opening page for garage products. Maybe you could give me the item(s) name(s). Thanks

Sorry! Here is a picture of what I mean. It's called "crown bolt black traditional decorative garage door kit" man that was a mouthful! There are other options if you search for "garage door decor"

I can see a black roof and a garage door that matches the red of the bricks in order to make the door less visible ,paint or add shutters paint them black or grey , no number on the wall.

I like your color choices. 2 thoughts: what would darker shutter gray look like trimming garage instead of cream? 2) what about window inserts into top panels on garage door? Seems to need something to break up massiveness????

I'll put upload an image with your suggestions tomorrow. I'll also try a brick color and off white color on the garage door.
