One cab or two?
sstrazisarJune 22, 2013
Hi all! Looking for some more help with a layout decision. We have 66" between our hood and our 1/2 wall (1st pic shows 1/2 wall in our pre-reno kitchen). We could install two 30" uppers or one 36" upper cabinet. Dimensions are limited because each cab is stacked with a glass hinge-top cabinet, and they only come in 30 or 36" widths. What looks better? Storage space is a non-issue, and we'd save $ by going with one 36" cab. But would it look like we forgot to finish the install? The base cabinet layout is fixed.

Thanks for your advice!

I would opt for the two 30" cabinets. What's a few more bucks ;)

Either one is good as long as there is a 6" space between the cabinets and range hood at the longest point

It looks like the 30`lines up with the lower bank of drawers so I would go with two 30`s

@judith, yes they would line up, and @margo, it's prob about $900! @KOH, can you elaborate? Are you saying that the hood (30") shouldn't touch the adjacent cabinets? I didn't see that mentioned in the hood specs.

Thank you all for your advice!

We did this set up several times. The 6" distance is for the design purpose any closer and it looks crowded.
