Need Help with Weathered Outdoor Furniture

JohnJune 27, 2013
So, I finally decided that weathered wood benches and patio chairs and table would look best (i hope) on the woodland grounds of my very old white colonial revival house. I was thinking of teak. But, every teak item I find looks new and brown. Is there anything I can do to acclerate the weathering process? Are there any suppliers that sell weathered grey non-contemporary outdoor furniture? Thanks.

There is an accelerant you can use to weather wood. I have been looking at a swing by Kingsley-Bate and noticed they carry a product that does this:

But I wouldn't worry too much, as even new teak will look beautiful with your very old white colonial revival house, and it won't look new for long -- I'd give it a year to turn grey! Time is on your side.

Thanks. Went on their website and found it. Do you think their teak furniture is of higher quality than far less expensive brands?

I've seen it in person, and it looks like it's VERY well built.

I doubt if it's of THAT much higher quality though if you know what I mean; you can probably find some decent teak at about half the price. Depends on how long you want to keep it, I think -- I would think the Kingsley-Bate teak furniture would last a lifetime.
