Need to make believe there is a large window in semi-basement condo dining room so as not to feel claustrophobic. Could use drapes on pole and fake window???

You can use a window frame and inside that a mirror.

Get a nice piece of stained glass and put a light box behind it.

This is what I did in my sitting area just off the kitchen. My home is pretty formal but you can change the column trim to a less fussy trim, but I love what the mirrors have done to visually open up the space.
