Hi vickgcheng, that is a very good question. I believe it would be safe, but I'll check with the architect and let you know if there's more information about it. It's a traditional Spanish BOVEDA ceiling and all bricks were laid by hand - here's a neat video about the process: https://vimeo.com/2379245. Thank you for your question and interest! -DHD
