Which type of foam for noise insulation?

My laundry closet door has two louvered sections which allow too much noise through, so I want to mount sheets of foam inside the door over those sections.

I need something about 2" thick that will block as much noise as possible.

Which type of foam is best? I know neoprene will do a good job by I also know it's not great for my health (voc's etc) or the environment. Any better options?

If you add foam, won't you have trouble opening/closing the doors because of it? My parents had these way back when and got rid of them, they installed regular bi-fold doors instead.

it's a single door rather than a folding door so the foam won't create any issues opening/closing.

Ok, I guess in that case I noticed that Home Depot is selling 2" thick foam for $20, I would guestimate the size to be 8' x 3', you could try that.

Thanks but finding foam is not the issue, selecting the right kind is. I need to find out which kind will block the most noise (there are many types of accoustic foam) and which kind is safest for my health and the environment (low or no VOC). Anyone here design a studio or media room by chance?
