Crazy-Bad Staging - Certainly not practical or appropriate.

I don't know why they do it in NH, but in the South we do it because it's warm and welcoming. It makes much better lighting for raiding the fridge or the last tidy up while having a conversation with someone. This is a huge kitchen, but it's staged for everyday, not an event or party. Modern kitchens are too technical and machine (appliance) oriented. Cabinetry is just furniture - put a lamp on it if you want.

The correct answer is.....as dorrienelle has stated above. That is exactly why we do it in nh!

OK point well taken. Besides, it opened the door for conversation and observatio. That is the goal of a well dressed room and woman. My apologies!

No apologies needed! This photo sent me off for a little kitchen lamp of my own (much smaller kitchen!), and now it's a favourite element in the room. So nice to come in, turn on the little lamp in the morning, instead of all the "task" lighting or big, bright overheads. Makes me feel like I can sneak in and out without firing up the whole house or the whole day just yet.

We are all so used to not having enough counter space, that it is a real luxury to have the ability to do this. I receive many comments on this - I will say almost all positive. And, yes, the framed photos are there everyday, not just for the shoot!
