Exterior Reno
July 4, 2013 in Design Dilemma
We bought this house last year and reno'd the inside. I love how it turned out. I'd say my style is pretty contemporary. Well now the outside doesn't match the inside. My thoughts were to use a cement based siding like hardie board in a dark blue in the grey scale. I was thinking of stone in light greys on the lower third of the front of the house and up the corners. And maybe do the peak above the front door in stone too. Trim in white? Only problem is my windows are beige. Would white look funny? Oh and shingles in the same shade of grey as the stone. For the garage doors I was thinking of white or whatever my trim color will be. Would love some suggestions.

This is a good example of Hardie blue clapboard and stone: Mountain Modern 1. I like the way they did the framing around the windows, which would work for you. I also like the modern door. I'd think about updating your door, too, to a more modern version. Mountain Modern 2.
