Need help in my entry!! With door trim

Hello we bought this old home and I'm trying to figure out how we are going to put trim around the door. It use to have these really thin moldings around but it looked really bad. The entry ceiling is very low so the top of the two doors almost touch. I want thick moulding but I can't do thick on the sides and thin on top. I don't think it would look right.. Any suggestion? Btw we used the dry wall to cover the molding area it will be removed once we add it. We just didn't want it to look awful with the framing exposed....anyways thanks

You are limited by reality. I think the molding should be the same for all the windows and doors. Do you have low ceilings through out? The ceiling doesn't look flat and you will have to scribe the molding anyway if it touched the ceiling. I would get the widest piece that will fit over the door and go with that. If it is painted the same color as the walls I will not be noticeable.

This photo shows a thin trim around the door, which looks great.
I think it really works because the trim is the same as the door. That is one thought.

It's only low in the ceiling then it pops up maybe a foot or so. Thanks I think I might just stick to thin. In the pic you posted it looks really good!
