the window had a leak from somewhere- and I want to install bath bars when elderly mom moves in. sorry I don't have a picture.

Sorry to hear about the leak, that's unfortunate. Have you spotted the source? If water got inside the walls you'll definitely want to open them up and dry that out before renovating to avoid mold. Bath bars are a great idea for elderly residents. When you have a photo you can attach it to the comments below - I'd love to help you with your dilemma.
