High, boring, dark walls in entrance way

Our walls in our entranceway are high, dark, narrow and boring. We want to lighten them with some interest. Suggestions?

Is the first photo an inspiration photo or part of your actual entry?

Lightening up the paint color will be a good start. Find a nice urn or sculpure....or even a painting/print on an easel for the niche. Here are some paint suggestions for you to consider, from Benjamin Moore :-)

Lighten up those walls and do not accent that niche with a darker color. Stamps Design is offering you some good choices. You may want to paint the ceiling the same color so as not to accentuate the height.

I like it, just paint it and hang pictures and also put some antique things on the platform and it is not to high

I like it ,all you need to add is one of these and you will love it too ...I hope :) That area was painted with the intention of creating a background for something special .

Hmm I don't think you can get away without repainting. Darker colors combined with a narrow entrance path makes it appear bland and uninviting. Try to go for a white type of color to lighten up that entrance. Love the high ceilings though. Maybe you should consider a modern type of revamp for that entrance?

I would lighten up the walls and add something visual that you just love.. a great colorful rug, paintings on the walls, something so that it takes your eyes of the shape of the room.
