I would carpet the entire space when they update. If its a sunny spot, a cosy reading nook could be good.

What a gorgeous area, I would give it a conservatory feel. Leave the tiles to define the area. I note she has a rattan tub chair ?? I would move that to that corner, find it a mate, move other cane and rattan accessories to there, add a small round table and some lush plants. The tub chair looks like it would double as a lounge chair as well as a dining chair for breakfast or casual lunches. Sorry I can't find photos, everything is for much larger areas.

I would add a couple comfy chairs, add some plants and make it a reading nook! What a lovely area!

Leave the tile, cover the area with smooth black stones, add a stunning large planter with a tall artistic looking Fig tree and now you have created a dramatic focal point that ties into the exterior view. Leave your chairs where you can sit and enjoy the view. Then change out the heavy curtains to woven shades for an updated lighter look.
