What are your color suggestions for the exterior?
July 16, 2013 in Design Dilemma
I recently purchased the house. It requires an overhaul. The woodwork in the front, and all windows are likely to be white. The roof is red tile. Any suggestions for the overall color and shutters?
I'm considering somewhat of a dark color (maybe gray) and black shades. Thoughts?

Thanks a lot from Istanbul...

With the red tile roof and overhangs, I see more of a traditional cream color for the house. Shutters a very dark green - nearly black would look classic.

You're in a warmer climate so I wouldn't paint the house too dark...dark colors make the house hotter by absorbing more infrared radiation from the sun.

Lots of options here. You could do what you had in mind: gray colors. You can also go for a spanish look: more off-white and the pick just about any color for the trim/shutters. I guess I'd have to know more of your likes and dislikes on color. Dark homes of that size look nice...even a dark brown and medium green colors.
