The metal would be steel....pick any kind of wood that you like.

The steel is plate steel, oiled finish. The wood is Douglas fir, new wood

How thick are the stair treads used? They seem to be the perfect thickness! I am trying to decide on the thickness of my new stairs and cannot make up my mind. Thank you!
