Can we please see a picture of your dining room? We'd also be interested in knowing what colors you like and what colors you have that will be in nearby rooms.

Your dining room needs a complete design plan and I think for the best results you should hire an interior designer in your area to assist you. This project seems more complex than what we houzzers are equipped to handle.

Is this a combination living and dining room? your post doesn't say that but the pictures led me to believe it. I also can't tell about the wall color - it sort of looks like one white wall (with the lamp against it) and one beige wall (with the demi circle over the shade)?

With all the red I was going to suggest a black dining (or perhaps dark cherry) set similar to the style of the table you have in the entry way. Would a round table with a leaf for guests work under the light fixture? Extra chairs could perhaps flank the fireplace, especially if they had cushions on them.

Since the area looks small, how about a small sofa or love seat facing the fireplace with a coffee table (or big ottoman) in front of it. If there is room, one more upholstered chair. You said it was a formal room which says no TV....is that correct?

Colors could include white and black, blue, green, some red... The art works I envision include bold colors in red, white and blue - oh dear...is that cliche? With the red wall, you will have to look a bit but I think the right art and upholstered pieces will jump out at you when you see it.

Hope this gets you started thinking....

I understand that. If you could perhaps start by telling us what kind and size of dining table you would like, we might be able to get a plan started for you. Do you want a round table or a rectangular one? Glass or wood or marble topped? How many do you want to seat? What are the dimensions of the room?

Yes it is a combo formal & dining together. The wall are all the same color, except red of coarse. I guess light throws it off.

Furniture- modern. Neutral. So when you ever change the red, can still use furniture

I would add drapes- would soften and warm things. Would depend how bold you go w decor.... Could do a white/cream (sorry- hard to tell what color neutral wall is) w swirl. But like I said- depends on accents and how you go.... Would be last detail

When you shop- take a paint stick painted the red. And take a tile.... It will help you see if you like the colors with whatever you pick out! I can't wait to see what you do! Fun!!!!!

I'd go a couch and a smaller chair to go in corner by the fireplace.... And have your dimensions. Furniture looks small in big stores.... Then u get it home and wowza! Metal/glass/light brown (like brown in tile) for accent

If you could supply us with dimensions of the room, with locations of fireplace, doors, and windows marked on a sketch, we could be more precise about what size furniture you need. I'm not clear on whether you want living room seating for 4 and also dining room seating for 4. Is that correct? Or do you want more seating at the dining room table?
